Grapefruit peel oil is a citrus essential oil obtained from Citrus × paradisi peel. In cosmetics it’s primarily a fragrance/skin-conditioning ingredient with a bright, fresh citrus profile driven by high limonene content. For leave-on use on UV-exposed skin, prefer steam-distilled material or ensure the finished product complies with the 15-ppm 5-MOP guidance to mitigate phototoxicity risk; as with many citrus oils, oxidized fractions may increase sensitization potential.
